When I was a boy
I ate a pumpkin treat
I walked around and round
Looking really neat
When I was a lad
Got high on sugar cane
Dressed up like Elton John
And walked right through the rain
What happened to the dead? (boy, I don't know)
What happened to my friends? (boy, I don't know)
I mostly miss the times of laughter with my friends (Happy Halloween)
I miss the costumes, jack-o-lanterns, and movies (Happy Halloween)
I miss the special drinks and taking time off work (Happy Halloween)
I miss the magic parts, fall nights, and spooky things (Happy Halloween)
Ohh boy, I think I love that peanut treat!
Ohh man, I think I love that Mary Jane stink! (I mean that peanut treat)
We can go to an orchard
Eat an apple off a tree (oh boy, tell me)
We can hang out in a graveyard
Bring a wine, and something to eat (I mean, trick r' treat)
What happens when we die? (boy, I don't know)
What happened to my my my
remember moonlit streets
collecting treats
the sound of ghostly sheets
across the leaves
your neighbor wears a witch's hat
October's spell is cast
inside my rubber mask
i gasp and laugh
at headstones in the grass
The Monster Mash
is blaring somewhere down the block
oh God, please stop the clock
let's pray away the sun
November One
brings fear without the fun
i've just begun
to harvest courage in my skin
and all the bones within
for now, i'll wear my mask
'til night has passed
and dream a pumpkin patch
why can't this last?
the morning scares away the moon
it's gonna come too soon

In a year that's been scarier than most, it's nice to think back on the memories of Halloweens past, and try to summon some of that frightfully fun old-fashioned black magic into this spooky season.
We hope these songs find you and yours safe and sound, with a Halloween favorite on the TV, bite-sized candies abounding in plastic cauldrons, and a jack-o-lantern smiling brightly into the autumn night.
